largest Texas Mission A visitor in 1777 referred to the structure as the "Queen of the Missions." "Rose Window" is considered one of the finest pieces of Spanish Colonial ornamentation in the country granary with flying buttresses, a gristmill, restored defensive walls and quarters.

You begin your visit to Mission San Jose by walking along the Mission Road.












The Convento was a housing unit for missionaries. In 1785 this convento haqd nine rooms on the lower lever and five on the upper. The flat roof allowed views of the surroundings. These ruins are an incomplete reconstruction begun by Benedictine monks in 1861.
